About the Mentor:
Violet Lemay
Violet Lemay has illustrated forty-four books, six of which she also wrote. Her latest, Let’s Be Friends (HarperFestival/2021), won Book-Fest’s first place award for diversity in children’s books. Violet is also a co-founder of Alithia’s Art Angels, an on-line art gallery offering support for young artists in honor of Alithia Ramirez who was killed in the Uvalde mass shooting.

When: We will begin accepting applications on November 6th. Please do not submit materials until this date. Deadline to apply is December 4th, 2022.
What: Enter one piece of artwork to be chosen to be critiqued over time by Violet Lemay!
Application Directions:
Email Katie O’Malley at ksmosubmissions@gmail.com with the illustration you would like to work on with Violet Lemay. Please read and follow these guidelines carefully in order for your submission to receive full consideration.
1. Your illustration file needs to be sized at 72dpi, and saved as a jpg. The file name should include your initials, not your name. (e.g.: AEK_2023mentorship.jpg)
2. Include a brief bio in your submission email that lists publication credits, professional training, and what you hope to gain from the mentorship.
3. Submissions should be sent to Katie O’Malley at ksmosubmissions@gmail.com between Nov 6th and Dec 4th, 2022. Your email subject line should read “2023 Illustration Mentorship Application”.
4. Failure to follow these guidelines will disqualify your application from consideration.
