The Fine Art of Children’s
Illustrations are magic. They help bring life to the stories kids love.
But rarely do a collection of illustrators get the chance to exhibit their work in its raw and original form–UNTIL NOW!
Join us in celebrating the wonderful artists that color the world of kids.
For the first time in KS-MO SCBWI history, we are pleased to offer our very own GALLERY SHOW!
OCTOBER 4TH-NOVEMBER 22ND AT HJ’S Community Center and Gallery in Brookside, near downtown Kansas City.
We are so pleased to be able to offer this opportunity. Submissions are now open to ALL Illustrators in the KS-MO region and BEYOND! If you are an author of an illustrated work, please consider asking your illustrator to submit.
Space is limited, so please submit early. After this two-week period, we will be opening the submissions to local non-SCBWI illustrators and national SCBWI members. We cannot guarantee more than one work per illustrator will be displayed, and we reserve the right to curate the submissions as needed. However, we STRONGLY encourage you to submit all the pieces you’d like to exhibit.
The gallery is able to SELL originals AND/OR prints. They gallery has a set 30% fee on all sales.
If you are an illustrator interested in seeing your work on display, please send a thumbnail to Amy Kenney at firstname.lastname@example.org and include:
- Name of work
- Display size
- Any and all display requirements
- How you plan to arrange for the work to arrive and return (if not sold)
- If you will you be selling your work and/or providing prints for sale
- If you are submitting multiple pieces, please include all the information for each piece and your order of preference if we select only one or two.
Not an illustrator?
Still want to support this amazing event?
How does a party sound?
We will be hosting two events at HJ’s. An opening of the show party on Saturday, October 5th and a gallery show closing party on Friday, November 22nd.
Both parties will be open to ALL SCBWI members and their guests and will have food, libations and lots of fun activities. Families are welcome and encouraged–this is kid lit, remember!
Still want to do more? If you are an author, please consider scheduling a book event or a reading/launch at HJ’s during these months. As a special consideration to our members, the gallery will NOT take any portion of book sales during these readings/launches. If you would be interested in scheduling something during this time period, please contact Amy Kenney at email@example.com
If you are a PAL author who has an illustrated manuscript, consider asking your illustrator to submit. The illustrators for PAL authors get to submit during the two-week KS-MO period–so don’t wait!
Further, if you have an idea for a book/kid lit/kid art event you’d like to pitch, please reach out to Amy Kenney at firstname.lastname@example.org
