We know that access to industry professionals is in short supply, yet deeply desired. Given that, we are always working to find new opportunities for KS-MO SCBWI members. This year, we are excited to  announce that Kansas City’s own global publisher Andrews McMeel Universal will be on site–in the from of editor Jean Lucas–to take pitches! These are limited to a total of 10–so we apologize in advance if you are unable to secure a slot. Please RESEARCH this publisher BEFORE signing up for a pitch!

Ms. Lucas would like you to come prepared for your 10-minute face-to-face with knowledge about your project and have considered the following:

-What is the project: fiction/nonfiction, storyline, and format

-Competition Research: Why or how is this different from what’s already in the marketplace? And do you know what is in the marketplace?

-Author or illustrator platform: How do you plan to aid in marketing and how would reader’s discover your work?

Ten-minute pitch/critique sessions with Ms. Lucas will be held Friday evening at DoubleTree Hotel in Overland Park. The cost is $35 for conference attendees.
